Which is bigger, small or grande?

The menu board at a local cafe provides a fun example of the failure to apply the mapping principle:

Perhaps in an effort to be consistent with the general expectation (and the rest of the board) that items should be ordered from smallest to largest, the visual accompanying the pricing for brewed coffee suggests that your grande coffee is half the size of a small.  But as we have pointed out before, consistency is as much about doing things the same each time, as it is about meeting users' expectations in a particular context.  It would have been perfectly fine to order the sizes from Grande to Small this time and have the visual correctly reflect their relative sizes.
